Antonio at right back.
|
Been discussed many times on here but hopefully we don't see him there again.
We would look much more comfortable with Tomkins there and we miss out on Antonios attacking ability. He is an absolute menace going forward.
Bilic has got so much right this season but Antonio at right back effects the team in a negative way.
He clearly looks uncomfortable and is caught out of position often.

As a comparison to Randolph...
Cech got beaten twice recently at his near post...in the same game I believe...
Happens even to the best...
BTW...how come Reid was totally beaten for pace by Martial for their second...left him completely unmarked and played him onside...
But will be forgivenfor his winning header...c

Antonio is fucking brilliant, he's as enthusiastic as a big dumb dog when it's time for walkies. I love that. But the bloke is so effective at what he does, looks a bit rough at times but we really missed him at the top end of the pitch scaring the fuck out of full backs and knocking them flying. No more wasting him at RB please Slav. What a signing.

I think it's been almost an arrogance from bilic that we can play an extra attacker at full back to give more threat. It worked ok for a while, but these sorts of things tend to get found out fairly quickly (like sand false striker system which worked for one game only!). It's no coincidence that we leaked goals once Antonio had been there for a while. Not his fault, totally Slavs with Tomkins available
But then how many extra goals did we score by having the extra attacking threat?

Dumb as a post? Says a internet poster about a PL player? Hahaha

Pretty much every single goal we have conceded recently has been down to Antonio being out of position. I love the guy when we are going forward, but I hope we can play him further forward next season.

I swear the title of this thread is Antonio. Or is my dyslexia so bad that it says Randolph or Martial?

If Randolph had guarded his near post he'd have saved Martial's 'effort' because I'm sure it was a cross that he mishit and fluked in, poor goalkeeping, thankfully only made our comeback that much more exciting.

The still photo of Antonio just after he heads the ball for the goal, he must be 4 feet in the air, fuck me what a jump and finish that was.
Dumb as a post but one hell of a player and a really likeable lad. Well done Antonio

I think most keepers would agree that they should never get beaten at the near post, as Randolph was by Martial That said it's great to see Antonio bombing forward but Reid doesn't seem to cover him in the way Ogbonna covers Creswells forward runs Personally I thought we look a lot more balanced and in control, both attacking & defending, with Tomkins at RB and Antonio pushed forward

It's been an absolute privilege watching Antonio grow since we bought. I just really hope he can be further forward next season, I just love this kid bursting forward. Best signing of the season for me.

I don't disagree with your point. I assumed you'd realise I was pulling your chain. I know you're young and therefore don't understand imperial measurements!

I'd need to see it again but I thought Randolph and Reid could've done better. In no way was Antonio to blame.

CT - it was a guess but it's probably not far off yeah, surely you understand the point though, he's 6ft tall not 6ft wide. I don't get what the fuss is. He anticipated a cross, which is clearly what Martial intended.
Just fluke it went in. Why do people insist there's always blame and not recognise it for what it was? It's a game of football.
Blame culture even in superb win. Joke stuff.

Recognising that misplaced passes catch players off guard....and it was a total fluke goal... and celebrating a win.... instead of nit picking at conceded goals....
That's childish?!

We should sign Jabba the hutt in the summer.
Can't handle 6ft goalkeepers in those massive goals out there.
We gotta make sure misplaced crosses don't go in....wahhhhhh...anyone who knows anything knows we need bigger men in the goal to cover everything....wahhhhh

End to end stuff from Hammer Hero Antionio once again. Fuck me some of you are fickle when trying to score a who point in saying he was at fault for a goal after his heroic effort and goal.
